A Content Management System often abbreviated CMS, is a computer software system, it assists its users, facilitates the organization, control, and publication of documents and other content.
A Web Content Management System is a CMS used to manage the content of a Web site. The most frequent uses for this system are to import and create documents and multimedia material, to assign roles and responsibilities to different content categories or types, etc. I actually this kind of system to administrate the content of this blog and also for the wiki I developed with my friends: digitools.

What interests me in the learning of another language is the fact that it opens you to another culture and another way of thinking. That's why I would be very interested if the subjects about the e-culture and e-communication we get onto in class emphasised on the differences between the french and the anglo-saxon culture. It would give us a conscience of our country's specificities and we could as well have a glimpse on what has already been developed abroad and thus open our minds to new practices.

Now you can watch for new music on iTunes, watch for cheap airfares with Travelocity, and, as my RSS is active on for my blog, you can add it on your personalized home page!

The word cybercrime was coined in the late 90s, when studying emerging problems of criminality that appeared on the Internet became a major issue. The term was used to describe all kinds of crime being perpetrated on the net or on new telecommunications networks.
It mostly includes offences against the confidentiality, integrity and availability of computer data and systems and offences related to infringements of copyrigh. You know these as viruses, spam or identity theft, but it also comprises the concept of cyber-stalking, also called online harassment or online abuse, which is the use of the Internet messaging services or other electronic means to stalk someone. There is a great deal of tool kits available nowadays. They are assumed as providing a complete protection against all sorts of Cybercrime, all you have to do is “install it and forget it”.

Youtube: the video fountain

I must admit that I was late in discovering Youtube, it was actually 2 months ago! As I assume everybody knows right now, Youtube is an awesome website on which it seems all the videos that you can find on the web are gathered. It was founded in 2005 by 3 early employees of PayPal ! They began in a garage and really needed outside financial help. YouTube is now one of the fastest-growing websites on the Internet, a proof of this is that it has been recently purchased by Google.
I think the success of Youtube lies in the fact that they made it easier for people to post their videos just as blogs made it easier for people to post messages and the Podcast system to post audio broadcasts.
I personally use Youtube for very diverse reasons. I often use it to see if I can find some videos from my favorite bands and singers, but I recently used it to learn how to make Michael Scofield’s Origami Swan in Prison Break!

As I already said in my previous article, what is good with the Internet is that you can open yourself to the world. What became easier is to learn other languages and especially English. For example the BBC website offers a whole program to learn English.

E-Culture is beautiful

When we were younger, my brother and I used to take our father’s computer as a video game console. Today each of us have a portable and we use it especially to surf on the Web. Now that I have entered the electronic culture, I could not do without. As I am a very curious person I just love the idea that you can share a lot of things thanks to the Internet and especially with regard to the question of opening ourselves to the world. In some ways, the Internet demonstrates how people can still be generous by sharing their culture, knowledge, ideas, energy, and creativity.
Using a computer also taught me to be more patient, disciplined and perseverant. I admit I still have to work on my patience especially when the Internet connection doesn’t work, but I can assure you I never give up, because I found out there is always a solution. And because of these connection problems I also became a very disciplined person, if not maniac! Thus when I cannot surf on the web I like to get things organized. For instance, I spend a lot of time ordering my music files, and I really enjoy it!

The phrase “social networks” refers to these social structures in which individuals or organizations gather because they have something in common. The first social networking website to appear was Classmates.com in 1995, its purpose was to bring old classmates together again. You can find now over 200 social networks on the Internet.
This structure model has also been taken over by the Business world, as in the case of LinkedIn.

DRM or the importance of being honest.

The DRM or Digital Rights Management system, a security technology which enables to protect copyrights and intend to limit hacking on the web, can be seen as going against the Internet ideology. Indeed the Internet actually became THE land of the free and the arrival of a system such as DRM somehow represents the restriction of the ideal of liberty that accompanied the construction of the web, and thus pervert it.
The problem is that when you steal a CD or a video tape from somebody, this person won’t have it anymore, whereas when people download illegally videos or recordings they don’t really feel like thieves, because the person they robbed is somehow still in possession of his videos or recordings, it’s just that the only thing you paid for it is your Internet subscription. That’s why the idea of DRM is so difficult to accept and this really affects recording and video companies which try to compensate for this loss by making as many derivative products as possible.

"Podcast", what's in a name?

Podcast is a derivative of podcasting which is the contraction of the terms iPod and broadcasting. Nowadays, it is mostly used as a system which enables people to download audio files usually containing radio or TV braodcasts. As you can see on the website of Europe1.
But for those of you who think that this is another sytem that enables you to steal music, radio broadcasts or videos, they must know that Podacsting doesn't mean pirating and that most of the time you don't have to pay to download a Podcast.
And if you ask yourself if the word Podcast is a registered trademark belonging to one specific company, well it's not yet! Apple actually tried to get the term "Pod" registered.
